Punta Mita is situated on the northern tip of Puerto Vallarta’s “Bahia de Banderas” (Bay of Banderas), so perfect Pacific sunsets are guaranteed.
Some local residents may tell you that Bahia de Banderas is the largest bay in Mexico and the second largest bay in North America – only behind the Hudson Bay. Obviously, they haven’t seen the Chesapeake Bay! It is a slight stretch of the truth because Bahia de Banderas is the third largest bay in Mexico at approximately 500 square miles in area. It is a bit smaller than Campeche Bay and Chetumal Bay, the largest body of Mexican water located south of the Yucatan Peninsula.
